The Taft Hobby Dornier Do-27 is a big STOL tail dragger that certainly turns heads at the field! The model comes in three different color schemes including a Zebra-striped African version, a red and white civilian version and a military camo version.
The Do-27 has a big 63 inch wingspan and 49 inch length. It is powered by a 4250 700kV motor controlled by a 50 amp ESC. Since it comes with flaps, you'll need at least a five-channel radio system. I fly it with a 3000 mAh four-cell lipo. It weighs in at just under six pounds.
The build was pretty straight-forward. But I did end up adding some weight to the nose to move the CG forward a bit. At the recommended CG it seemed a little tail heavy for my tastes. With the extra weight, it tracked truer and wasn't at twitchy. With it dailed in, it flys rock-steady. None of my models has drawn as many comments as has the Do-27. The really nice paint scheme along with it being something a little different ensures it will stand out at the field.
